An excavator is removed from the former Monterey lagoon near the Monterey Rock on Monday afternoon in Janesville. A tow line fixed to a nearby tow truck was used to pull the machine from the muddy water after it had gotten stuck near the former Monterey Dam while crews were working recently on a shoreline restoration project.
