Madison Memorial’s Wes Turner could not be beaten Tuesday night.

The Spartans goalie stopped 36 shots to lead Memorial to a 4-0 Big Eight Conference boys hockey victory over the visiting Janesville Bluebirds.

Janesville trailed by one goal going into the third period, but a short-handed soore put the Spartans up 3-0 and Turner did the rest.

“It was a good effort by the guys,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “The effort was there, but we just couldn’t get it past Turner.”

Jack Faulkner had two of the Spartans’ three third-period goals.

“We had some chances, but they were right in his belly,” Mauermann said of the Spartans’ goaltender. “You have to give him credit.”

The Bluebirds’ busy week continues Thursday with a game against the Eastside Lakers at Hartmeyer Ice Arena.
