Jakov Novak, John Pesek and Carter Ekberg each scored a goal in the final two minutes as the Janesville Jets completed yet another comeback to defeat the host Coulee Region Chill 6-4 in an NAHL game Sunday afternoon.
Janesville (11-2) finished a two-game sweep of the in-state rival Chill.
The two teams combined for five goals during a wild second period that saw Coulee Region (1-7-1-1) take a 4-3 lead.
Novak tied the game with his sixth goal of the season at 18:10 in the third period, and, 40 seconds later, Pesek launched the game-winner thanks to passes from Christophe Fillion and Novak.
Novak and Tanner Polglaze each had three assists in the win.
Janesville’s Grant Anderson and Coulee Region’s Jackson Decker traded goals in the first period.
Back-to-back goals by Marshall Plunkett and Nick Bowman put the Chill up 3-1, but Alec Semandel and Kip Hoffman each netted late in the second period—sandwiched around Bowman’s second goal—to cut the deficit to one.
Janesville goalie Daniel Lebedeff made 31 saves.
The Jets are off until Saturday when they’ll travel back to La Crosse to face the Chill.
