JANESVILLE

Janesville Parker High will be searching for a new athletic director for a second straight year.

John Zimmerman will resign the post at the end of the 2017-18 school year. Patrick Gasper, communications specialist for the School District of Janesville, confirmed Zimmerman’s plan to resign.

Gasper said the reason for Zimmerman’s resignation was that athletic director responsibilities “were taking too much time away from him in his classroom and his DECA and extracurriculars that he’s doing for the business education program.”

The Gazette has reached out to Zimmerman and Parker principal Chris Laue for further comment.

Zimmerman was hired heading into this school year to replace Joe Dye.

Zimmerman, who has been at Parker since 1994, remained in charge of the Distributive Education Club of America program and is the instructional business manager of the business and marketing department. He continued to teach two business and marketing classes.
