Emma Kilgora’s first high school goal was a doozy at the Janesville Ice Arena on Saturday night.

The sophomore from Milton scored 6 minutes, 54 seconds into overtime to give the Rock County Fury co-op a 2-1 overtime win over the Brookfield Central co-op in a high school girls hockey season opener.

Fury coach Luke Steurer described the game-winner:

“Emma … came through the neutral zone with the puck, streaking past their defense and driving hard for a breakaway—putting a deke on the goalie for her first WIAA high school goal.”

The Fury took a 1-0 lead at 10:57 of the third period when Kilgora and Sara Loerke assisted on a goal by Amery Stuckey, but the Glacier tied the score 1 minute, 23 seconds later on a goal by Cori Rudella.

Olivia Cronin made 30 saves for the Fury, who next play in a tournament at Hartland Arrowhead on Friday and Saturday.
