If the Rock County Fury were operating at less than full strength Saturday, they sure didn’t show it.
Five different players found the net, and the Fury, the area’s girls hockey co-op, breezed past the visiting Fox Cities Stars 7-0 in a Badger Conference game in Beloit.
Rock County coach Luke Steurer said his team was without three players, including two first-liners, for Saturday’s game.
“We played a great game tonight,” Steurer said. “Our forwards and defense did a great job of collapsing in the middle to pick up the loose puck and their forwards to help our goalie.”
Kaitlynn Beyer, a Janesville Parker senior, and Alyssa Knauf each scored twice in the win.
Ella Silha’s first varsity goal put Rock County on the board after 7:15, and Beyer and Knauf scored additional first period goals.
Beyer bagged her second goal in the second period. Maggy Henschler, Knauf, and Zoie Steig capped the scoring in the third.
Henschler also added three assists, giving her a team-leading 17 points through seven games.
Rock County goalie McKaylie Buescher stopped 24 shots for her fourth shutout of the season.
The Fury (5-1-1) continue Badger Conference play Tuesday (7 p.m.) in Beloit against the Stoughton Icebergs co-op.
