The Verona Wildcats used depth in the lineup to squeeze past Craig in Tuesday’s Big Eight Conference girls golf clash at Monona Golf Course.

The Cougars were led by sophomore Kallie Lux’s 85 and an 87 from Sara Nerad. The scores led the event, but the two golfers at the bottom of Verona’s lineup secured the 358-378 win for the host Wildcats.

Both teams picked up a victory over Madison East, which could not field a complete team.

“Even though we were not able to walk away with a win against Verona, we played them tougher than we ever have in the past,” Craig coach Alex Schaar said. “Kallie and Sara really took care of business on the front end of the lineup.”

The Cougars play their final conference meet Wednesday in Beloit.
