Defending WIAA Division 3 state champion Lake Mills overpowered Janesville Parker in nonconference girls basketball Friday night.

The host L-Cats coasted to a 78-28 win behind 21 points from Jenna Hosey and 17 from Bella Pitta.

Parker (0-2) got 13 points from Addie Miller.

The Vikings trailed 45-13 at half.

“They’re a very good team that killed us from the corner with the 3-ball,” first-year coach Parker coach Ryan Tyrrell said. “And from a coaching standpoint, I have to find a way to make adjustments when that happens.

“But our girls are surprisingly resilient. The score may not show it, but outside the 3-pointers they made, I thought our defensive rotations were better than they were against Brodhead. We just got a little impatient at times.”

Parker opens up Big Eight Conference play Tuesday night at home against Beloit Memorial.
