The Milton High girls basketball coaching staff stressed getting off to a good start against visiting Monona Grove on Thursday night.

The Red Hawks were listening.

Chloe Buescher scored 28 points and Kailey Harbort added 21 to power Milton to an 83-71 Badger South Conference victory over Monona Grove on Thursday night.

Harbort scored 17 of her points in the first half, while Buescher had 13 as the Red Hawks rolled to a 50-32 lead by halftime. Carley Albrecht added 12 points in the win, which lifted the Red Hawks to 4-2 in the conference and 6-2 overall.

Monona Grove’s McKenna Warnock was hurt by early foul trouble but still managed to score 35 points. The Silver Eagles fell to 3-3 in the league.

Milton plays Janesville Craig in the Cougars’ gym at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday as part of the Optimist tournament.

Union Grove 72, Delavan-Darien 36—Brooklyn Bull scored 27 points and Angela Slattery had all 14 of her points in the second half as host Union Grove never let up on visiting Delavan-Darien in a Southern Lakes Conference game.

Jaida Speth and Kailea Timmerman each had 15 points for the Comets, who fell to 1-6.

Juniors Hunter Baars and Kristine Mumm added 16 and 12 points, respectively, as the Vikings were in control the entire game. Parkview led 30-16 at halftime.
