Verona captured the Big Eight Conference title at the boys tennis meet, which concluded Thursday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.

Verona finished with 38 points, edging Sun Prairie and Middleton, which each had 34.

Janesville Craig had four sixth-place finishers to take seventh with four points. Parker had one sixth-place finish to take eighth.

Madison Memorial’s Colt Tegtmeier won the No. 1 singles title, rebounding to beat Verona’s Will Tennison, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.

Elijah Schimelpfenig and Josh Baldwin of Sun Prairie won the No. 1 doubles title with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Sam Dettman and Rafael Sanga of Middleton.

Craig and Parker are part of the WIAA Beloit Memorial Subsectional on Monday.
