Five notable performances by area high school athletes over the past week, and five events to keep an eye on in the next seven days:

Madison Felmeten, Parkview volleyball—The Vikings remained unbeaten in Trailways South Conference play but were pushed to the brink to do so. Felmeten had nine kills and four blocks in a five-set home win over Deerfield on Tuesday and 12 kills and four more blocks in a five-set win at Johnson Creek on Thursday.
Tressin Kussmaul, Janesville Craig football—The senior running back ran the ball 22 times for 124 yards and three touchdowns in Friday’s victory at Madison East. He scored on runs of 3, 7 and 4 yards as the Cougars clinched a playoff berth and moved into a three-way tie atop the Big Eight standings.
Holly and Annie Murphy, Badger girls golf—Holly, a junior, and Annie, a freshman, finished second and third, respectively at the rain-shortened Southern Lakes Conference meet Tuesday. Holly shot a 41 and Annie a 44 over nine holes to help the Badgers shoot 182 and win the SLC title.
Julio Espinoza, Whitewater football—Espinoza had just one catch Friday, but it was the biggest of the season for the Whippets. His six-yard touchdown grab on an untimed down at the end of the game at Evansville/Albany helped Whitewater come from behind to win 22-21 for its first victory.
