Tyler Herro continues to bolster his Mr. Basketball résumé.

The Whitnall senior scored 40 points Saturday to lead the Falcons to a 74-59 nonconference win over the Elkhorn Elks at Whitnall High.

Elkhorn (7-5) trailed by six points at halftime but couldn’t stay with Whitnall (11-3), which won its third straight game.

Herro, a University of Kentucky commit, has averaged 39 points per game since returning from a calf injury that forced him to miss several weeks. The 6-foot-5 guard is averaging 29.3 points per game overall.

Luke Umnus had 19 points to lead Elkhorn. The Elks return to Southern Lakes Conference play Friday against Burlington.

  • Monroe 72, Milton 49—Jonah Tostrund scored a game-high 21 points as the Cheesemakers routed the Red Hawks on Friday at Milton High.

Monroe (5-6 overall) evened its Badger South Conference record at 3-3. Milton (0-13 overall) dropped to 0-7 in league play.

Brad Bowditch and Jared Brown each scored nine points to lead the Red Hawks.
