Mallory Klotz’s two-out single drove home Megan Schweitzer in the top of the seventh inning to lead UW-Whitewater to a 6-5 win over Benedictine (Ill.) in the NCAA Division III regional softball tournament at van Steenderen Softball Complex on Saturday.

The Warhawks (26-11-1) play Coe (Iowa), a 12-2 winner against Trine (Ind.) in the regional’s other Saturday match-up, at 11 a.m. today in the double-elimination tournament.

With the score tied 5-all, Schweitzer led off the bottom of the sixth with a bunt single. Schweitzer then stole second and went to third on a groundout before Klotz delivered the two-out hit.

Molly Ethington and Caitlin Catino each drove in two runs for the Warhawks.

Julia Camardo pitched the first 6 2/3 innings to get the win. Camardo struck out eight.

Dani Biesiada came in with two outs in the seventh and allowed a hit before getting the final out on a popup in the infield.
