UW-Whitewater’s men’s basketball team had no answer for Philip Flory on Wednesday night.

The UW-Stevens Point forward had 26 points to lead the visiting Pointers to a 70-68 win in the WIAC season-opener for both teams.

Whitewater cut a five-point deficit down to two at 70-68 on Brian Conaghan’s 3-pointer with :37 left, but Trevon Chislom’s 3-pointer at the buzzer was no good for the Warhawks.

Gage Malensek had 22 points to lead Whitewater, with Chislom finishing with 14.

Whitewater plays at Stevens Point on Saturday.
