The Rock County River Monsters opened up the AAA American Legion state baseball tournament with an 8-5 win over Marinette on Friday.
The Rock County American Legion baseball team will open play at the state tournament at 5 p.m. Friday against an 18-11 Marinette team. Other teams in the field include: Oconomowoc, Appleton, Wisconsin Rapids, Oshkosh, Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls.
