As a retired sergeant at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, I feel obligated to weigh in on the sheriff’s race after watching the current administration cause so much damage to what was once a respected law enforcement agency.

I started there under the outstanding administration of Sheriff Joe Back and retired in 2008. At the time of my retirement, I could already see the slow downward spiral begin when the current administration took over. The egomania demonstrated by the current administration is frightening. This administration has no integrity and respect from the law enforcement agencies that it should be working with, and it has no desire to change that. The obsessive control to direct the outcome of this election to ensure they keep the “status quo” no matter the cost to staff and the public is truly disturbing.

The only candidate who is willing and able to take on the needed changes to this agency is Gary Groelle. He was a team player who encouraged open and free exchange of dialog and ideas. He was always known as fair and professional.

Gary will put the department back on course to becoming the law enforcement agency needed and paid for by the citizens of Rock County.
