Janesville, WI - June Mildred Ward, 89, of Janesville, formerly of Fort Atkinson, passed away in her sleep Monday, January 29, 2018 at Cedar Crest in Janesville. June was born on July 16, 1928, in Fort Atkinson, to Ben and Lulu DeForest. She joined four brothers. June graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1946, and remained lifelong friends with a special group of ladies referred to as “the girls of ‘46”. June married Kenneth Monogue in Fort Atkinson on October 23, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1969. She married Ted Ward on March 4, 1972, and shared twenty-nine special years together, living between their northern Wisconsin home on Razorback Lake in Sayner, and wintering in Fort Myers, FL. They enjoyed traveling and socializing and made many friends wherever they went. Ted preceded her in death on September 18, 2001. After Ted’s death, June moved back to southern Wisconsin to be closer to her family. For the last seven years, she resided at the Huntington Retirement Community in Janesville, where she had many special friends. She enjoyed playing cards, and spent many hours doing cross stitch and knitting. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milton.

June is survived by her children, Kathy (Jamie) Martin and Rick (Terry) Monogue. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Jim (Elaine) Ward, Tom Ward and Shari (Tim) Dunn; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands; a son, Kenneth Monogue; son-in-law, Terry Woods; parents, Ben and Lulu DeForest; brothers and sisters-in-law: Delbert (Hilda), Roy (Charlotte), Robert (Edith) and Howard and a nephew, Chuck DeForest.

Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. on Thursday at the memorial home until time of service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
