The woman who Walworth County judges on Monday appointed to be the interim clerk of circuit court announced Tuesday her intention to run for the office in November.

Kristina Secord will fill the seat left by Sheila Reiff, who announced last week she would be taking the clerk position with the state Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Secord announced her candidacy to hold the position for the 2019-to-2022 term, according to a news release.

Her endorsements, as listed in the release, include Reiff, Walworth County Sheriff Kurt Picknell, District Attorney Zeke Wiedenfeld and Treasurer Valerie Etzel.

“They have all graciously come out early and endorsed me for this position, and I am truly grateful,” Secord said in the release.

Secord is married with three children and is a lifelong Walworth County resident, according to the release.
