Thomas Bier, a candidate for the Supervisor 1 seat on the Johnstown Town Board, reached out to The Gazette with information about his candidacy.

Bier is running against Scott Fleming for the seat in the spring election on April 6. The Gazette earlier ran a story containing Fleming’s survey responses but not Bier’s

Age: 69.

Education: Bachelor of Arts degree in education from UW-Madison.

Job: Retired firefighter.

Community service: Zoning Appeals Board for town of Johnstown; Janesville Wednesday Morning Optimist Club; finance committee for St. Mary’s Church in Janesville; previously served as assistant coach for the Milton girls varsity softball team.

Elected posts: None.

Major campaign issue: “I am interested in maintaining the agricultural aspect of Johnstown Township. I’ve live in the township for over forty years and am interested in serving the Johnstown community.”

Scott Fleming

Age: 39.

Address: 13214 E. Rye Road, Avalon.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in soil and land management from UW-Stevens Point.

Job: Sampling director and nutrient management planner at Rock River Laboratory in Watertown.

Community service: Previously served on Rock County Pork Producers Board and Christus Evangelical Lutheran Church Council. Volunteers with the Wisconsin International Harvester Collectors Club, Whitewater SnoSeekers snowmobile club and the Snowmobile Alliances in Walworth and Jefferson counties.
