U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will speak at a rally for congressional candidate Randy Bryce on Saturday in Janesville, the Bryce campaign announced.
Campaign spokeswoman Julia Savel said Tuesday that the rally will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the UAW Local 95 Hall, 1795 Lafayette St.
Sanders ran a strong second to Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination for president in 2016 and remains a prominent political voice on the national scene. He endorsed Bryce last November.
The rally will take place in the city where Bryce’s rival for the Democratic nomination in the 1st Congressional District, Cathy Myers, lives.
Janesville is also the home of the incumbent, Paul Ryan, who is not running for re-election, and Bryan Steil, one of the six Republican candidates on the primary ballot.
Voters will pick their candidates in the Aug. 14 primary.
“I’m proud to have Senator Sanders’ support, and I look forward to talking to voters in Janesville with him this weekend,” Bryce said in a news release.
