The Janesville Police and Fire Commission recently approved the promotions of Sgt. Michael Blaser to lieutenant and officer Jennifer Wehmas to sergeant.

Blaser, an 18-year veteran of the police department, was promoted to lieutenant effective Jan. 19. He has a bachelor’s degree from UW-Whitewater and has experience in these areas: crisis intervention team, field training officer, gang unit, patrol sergeant, street crimes unit, explorer post and SWAT team.

Wehmas, an 11-year veteran of the department, was promoted to sergeant effective Jan. 21. She holds a bachelor’s degree from UW-Oshkosh and has experience as an explorer post adviser, field training officer, honor guard, mobile field force and street crimes unit.
