Gov. Tony Evers recently signed a $1.95 million contract with Rock Road Inc. to begin resurfacing Highway 67 in Walworth County.

According to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, work on the highway began Aug. 2 and is scheduled to be completed this fall. The project will span from Salt Box Road in the village of Sharon to Highway 14 in the town of Walworth.

In addition to the resurfacing of Highway 67, improvements will include:

  • Curb and gutter replacement.
  • Updating curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
  • Rehabilitation of the Piscasaw Creek bridge.
  • Signing, pavement markings and erosion control.

The construction will close the highway to traffic, and detours will be marked for Highway 14, Interstate 43 and Highway 140.

Local access will be maintained for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles throughout the construction.
