Firefighters investigate the scene of a fatal fire Friday at N5465 Highway 120 in the town of Spring Prairie.


Police on Monday identified the man whose body was found at the scene of a Friday house fire in the town of Spring Prairie.

Walworth County sheriff’s Capt. Rob Hall said the man was Charles E. Ayers, 84, who lived in the house at N5465 Highway 120.

The Lyons Fire Department and others were called to the house fire at about 8:28 a.m. Friday. The fire was quickly extinguished, but Ayers’ body was found inside, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities are investigating the cause and origin of the fire, according to the sheriff’s office.
