A Janesville man was arrested Saturday morning after a mile-long vehicle pursuit, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.

Neighbors reported that Kevin Alt, 45, of Janesville, was attempting a burglary to a residence in the 2600 block of Bond Place between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Police located Alt as he was leaving the area. Police attempted a traffic stop, but Alt fled.

Police pursued for about two minutes. The pursuit ended at the corner of Elizabeth Street and North Willard Avenue when Alt’s truck blew out a tire and came to a stop after the vehicle was sent sideways, according to police.

Alt tried to escape on foot, but police said they apprehended him shortly after he exited the vehicle.

Alt was taken to the Rock County Jail on charges of attempted burglary, stalking/domestic violence, bail jumping and fleeing.
