The Hedberg Public Library has received a $300,000 donation from a “historically generous” family foundation, bringing the library one step closer to its $1.7 million renovation fundraising goal.

Public information coordinator Elizabeth Hough declined to identify the donor, saying the library hopes to identify the organization within the next week or so.

The $300,000 gift is the largest single donation the library has received to date, bringing the fundraising total to about $600,000, Hough said.

Planned renovations include a centralized service desk, increased reading and meeting spaces, an expanded teen area, updated technology, and more.
