Despite a soft launch last week, the town square interactive fountain in downtown Janesville has been turned off because of technical issues.

ARISE Now, the public and private group promoting downtown redevelopment, has ordered a replacement part from a Canadian vendor. The organization will send out a press release once the fountain is functional again, ARISE Now Director of Development and Community Engagement JoLynn Burden wrote in an email to The Gazette.

ARISE Now still is planning a Wednesday, Sept. 12, grand opening for the fountain. Burden said it would be a "cornerstone" of the town square project once it's fixed.
