Stacy Petersen will become the new principal of Roosevelt Elementary School starting Wednesday.

Her appointment was approved by the Janesville School Board Tuesday night.

Petersen served as principal in the East Troy School Elementary School and Madison Country Day School. She was also a principal at Roosevelt Elementary School from 2009 to 2013, according to a news release from the school district.

Petersen recently returned to Janesville and was serving as a reading specialist at Roosevelt.

Petersen will be given a two-year contract for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years. Her annual salary will be $100,246.

Petersen replaces Olga Hanna who left the job for family reasons, according to Patrick Gasper, district communication specialist
