JANESVILLE

The Janesville School District is working to adopt the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation to reduce quarantine time for people with COVID-19 from 10 days to five days for those who no longer show symptoms or test positive for COVID-19.

District spokesperson Patrick Gasper told The Gazette in an email that the district expects to implement the change “next week.”

The Milton School District sent an email to parents Monday that said it would not be changing quarantine and isolation protocols for those with COVID-19 to align with the federal recommendation at this time.

On Wednesday, Milton School District officials said they were revisiting that decision as they awaited confirmation from the CDC that its guidelines applied to K-12 students and adults.

The Milton School District said it will discuss any potential changes to COVID-19 protocol at the upcoming school board meeting Monday, Jan. 10.
