Janesville police on Saturday arrested a man suspected of shooting two people during an armed robbery in Beloit on Aug. 1.

Deangelo Thomas, 20, was arrested in Janesville around 10 a.m. after a brief vehicle pursuit near Kellogg Avenue and South Grant Avenue, Beloit Police Department Sgt. Brian Daugherty said.

Daugherty said Beloit police had a temporary felony warrant for Thomas, who is the suspect in an armed robbery of a 15-year-old boy in the 700 block of Oak Street in Beloit.

The boy and a 41-year-old man were shot during the robbery. The man was trying to intervene during the robbery, according to police.

Daugherty said Thomas was armed Saturday, but he discarded the gun during a brief foot pursuit after exiting a vehicle. Janesville officers apprehended Thomas, who was taken to the Rock County Jail.

Thomas was the passenger of the vehicle. The driver was also arrested, Daugherty said.
