A Caledonia man pulled into the Wal-Mart parking lot in Lake Geneva on June 30, and seven days later police found him dead in the van.

Lake Geneva police have ruled out homicide in the death of John Rigden, 48, but the exact cause of death is still unknown, Lt. Ed Gritzner said. It could be a medical issue, overdose, suicide or another cause.

The autopsy was inconclusive, Gritzner said, so they are waiting for results from a toxicology.

When he pulled into the lot, Rigden did not get out of the van, Gritzner said. The van had tinted windows and the parking lot is open 24/7, so its presence did not stand out, he said.

Online court records show a man with the same name and age previously lived in the village of Walworth.
