A former long-term substitute teacher at Beloit Memorial High School is accused of repeatedly sexual assaulting a 14-year-old student last year, according to a city of Beloit news release.

Tyler J. Edge, 24, of Chippewa Falls was charged in Rock County Court on Monday with sexual assault of a student by school staff and repeated sexual assault of the same child, according to online court records.

Police say more than 20 incidents of assault occurred in Edge's car, classroom and office beginning in spring 2017, according to court documents.

The boy gave police text messages in which Edge admits to molestation and says it was wrong, according to documents.

The Beloit and Chippewa Falls police departments filed search warrants for Edge's electronics Tuesday, according to the release.

Edge worked as a long-term substitute teacher in the Beloit School District from August 2016 to July 2017. He is now a teacher in the Chippewa Falls School District and has been placed on unpaid leave starting Wednesday, according to the release.

Beloit and South Beloit, Illinois, police and both school districts are cooperating in the investigation, according to the release. does not condone or review every comment. Read more in our Commenter Policy Agreement
