A day care worker from Whitewater has been sentenced to one year in jail and five years of probation for dealing drugs out of her car in the day care’s parking lot.
Mallory L. Scharine, 24, of 4247 N. Scharine Road pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of delivering counterfeit LSD on or near a youth center, according to online court records.
She will have work-release privileges and can drive to Illinois and Iowa for work. She may also serve her jail time in Rock County.
The other five charges she faced were dismissed and read into the record as part of a plea agreement, court records show.
Walworth County sheriff’s deputies on March 23 arrested Scharine at the unnamed day care center at 560 Elkhorn Road in the town of Whitewater, according to the criminal complaint. Deputies made sure other staff members took over the children under her care.
Deputies used confidential informants to acquire LSD and marijuana from Scharine in December, January and February, the complaint states. The informants drove to the day care center, entered Scharine’s car, left money and took the drugs.
The substances the informants picked up tested negative for LSD, however, according to the complaint.
Scharine’s jail sentence must start on or before 8 a.m. Aug. 28.
