The Janesville Multicultural Teacher Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications for its 2018 scholarship cycle.

The fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, offers college scholarships to students of color who are pursuing careers in education.

The $5,000 scholarship is renewable for up to four years.

Applicants must be identified as black, Asian, Latino or Native American. Upon attaining a Wisconsin teaching certificate, recipients agree to apply for a position with the Janesville School District. Recipients hired by the school district agree to maintain their employment with the district for a minimum of three years.

The scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Parker and Craig high schools. Janesville adults of color who are interested in pursuing a career in education are also encouraged to apply, especially those who have some college background.

The application deadline is March 1. Application materials are available online under the scholarship section of the Community Foundation’s website, cfsw.org.
