A week after unveiling Blain’s Farm & Fleet stores will expand into two Michigan cities, the company has announced a third will open in Traverse City, Michigan, in spring 2019, according to a press release.

Blain’s plans to expand throughout Michigan with several locations in “various stages of development.” The three recently announced locations are the first and will bring the total number of Blain’s Farm & Fleets to 41, according to the release.

“Everything is falling into place,” said Jane Blain Gilbertson, Blain’s owner and president. “In Michigan, we are finding like-minded partners who share our values and appreciate the unique community-focused retail environment we offer. Michigan and Blain’s Farm & Fleet stores were made for one another!”

In Traverse City, the company plans to build a 100,000-square-foot store with a drive-through area that will allow customers to buy items without leaving their vehicles.

The Traverse City store will be the first Farm & Fleet in Michigan the company builds from the ground up; the other two Michigan stores will use existing buildings, according to the release.

“The planned expansion is good for everyone,” Gilbertson said. “It creates opportunities for our existing family of associates as well as the new Michigan family that we haven’t met yet. And we are very excited to begin serving our new neighbors in Michigan!”

The previously announced expansions in Portage and Jackson, Michigan, could be open this fall. The company chose Michigan for expansion because it’s had a high number of online sales in the state.
