VAL CROFTS "2013 Crystal Apple Award" featured on NBC15 TONIGHT?!

It is my understanding that TONIGHT (Wed., 5/8) NBC15 will announce VAL CROFTS, the social studies teacher at MILTON HS who founded and directs the annual Discovering Democracy field study, as honoree of one of the five "2013 Crystal Apple Awards." I’ll be watching to find out. Will YOU?

This is Teacher Appreciation Week and NBC15, WMTV; Madison launched its 18th annual CRYSTAL APPLE AWARDS series on 6 pm newscast last Monday, May 6.

On the basis of the press release from Milton High School last week, I shared this very special good news on my WE THE PEOPLE blog 1-week ago today, “VAL CROFTS named “CRYSTAL APPLE 2013” honoree!”

CROFTS is the founder/director of Discovering Democracy at Milton High School. He led his 4th annual Discovering Democracy in Washington, DC arriving there on the first day of Spring (March 20) and arriving home at Milton HS on Monday morning (March 25). He has taught at Milton HS for 10 years and teaches Advanced Placement U.S. Government & Politics and U.S. History. For more information about VAL CROFTS, you can use the link above my blog post last Wednesday (5/1).

If you are interested to learn more about the 4th annual Discovering Democracy field study, you will find my WE THE PEOPLE blog posts starting on Tuesday, March 19 and continuing through Monday, March 25 with the safe return of DD IV to Milton HS using this link, “We the people” – March 2013.

So far, two of the five “CRYSTAL APPLE 2013” honorees have been announced by NBC15:

Monday - Mrs. Heidi Serres from River Ridge Middle School in Bloomington, WI with Honorable Mention: Tom Buckman, 4th grade teacher at Kennedy Elementary School in Janesville.

Tuesday – Mrs. Kathy Statz from Orchard Ridge Elementary School, Madison.

If you want to watch the videos used by NBC15 on air, use this link, “2013 Crystal Apple Awards” and click on the links on the right side of the webpage. You will find the annual list of “Crystal Apple Award Teachers and Honor Roll” covering 2003 through 2012 on that webpage.

Today – Wednesday – VAL CROFTS from Milton High School? I’ll be watching WMTV’s 6 pm Newscast tonight to find out. Time will tell…

Here we go…

Mr. E.
