Elections in WI are highly credible.

SPECIAL THANKS to our ROCK CO. CLERK LORI STOTTLER for her forthcoming openness – transparency to WE THE PEOPLE of ROCK CO & WI! I agree with the Gazette’s THUMBS-UP in today’s Gazette. (See p. 5A) I do NOT think we need a voter ID law in WI - do you?

It is VERY significant that Stottler was forthcoming in responding to the request of the Wisconsin Citizens for Election Protection to verify the Recall Election votes by examining the paper ballots to compare with the machine vote counts. This resulted in our ROCK COUNTY being the first of WI’s 72 counties to be audited by CITIZENS not officially involved with the RECALL ELECTION of June 5, 2012.

Bottom-line: No problems found with ballot counting machines! ONLY errors identified were HUMAN ERRORS and then ONLY one anomaly: “Two ballots marked for use in one Janesville ward were given to voters from another ward at the same precinct.” Reassuring evidence for WE THE PEOPLE of ROCK COUNTY and WI!

THANK YOU, LORIE STOTTLER! I note that this is another example of how Lorie follows not only the letter, but also the SPIRIT OF THE LAW! Keep up the good work as our Rock County Clerk!

The process of auditing the election through citizen examination of actual paper ballots is labor intensive. It is reported that the group spent 2 days on that count in Rock County. I am grateful to this group, “Wisconsin Citizens for Election Protection” for their conscientious and committed volunteer work to VERIFY the PAPER BALLOT COUNT with the count of the voting machines. VALUABLE VERIFICATION!

I have read the reports from throughout the US about credibility of vote counting machines. There are some real concerns which MUST be checked. I am VERY GRATEFUL that in WI we have laws requiring PAPER TRAIL and the PRESERVATION of PAPER BALLOTS for a specific time after an election to meet PUBLIC RECORD requirements..

The reports clarify that the filings of Wisconsin Citizen for Election Protection are the key to PRDESERVING the paper ballots longer than required by our WI State Law. Should we campaign to have that time EXTENDED so that there is MORE time to file for PUBLIC RECORD access? What do YOU think?

The ROCK COUNTY AUDIT enhances my confidence in the election processes in WI, but I would agree that we MUST remember, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” There is NO reason to encumber citizen review of such VERY SIGNIFICANT documents as ELECTION BALLOTS!

In this context, however, I am concerned about what I perceive to be an intentional campaign to undermine the credibility of our elections in WI and throughout the USA. I was HAPPY to see the Executive Director of our WI Government Accountability Board, Kevin Kennedy, take a public stance regarding the DISinformation circulated by 6 Republican lawmakers.

I urge you to read the report on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s website – you can use this link, “Government Accountability Board condemns suggestions of fraud in Racine.”

Kennedy stated, "Speaking frankly on behalf of our agency and local election officials, absent direct evidence, I believe continued unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud tend to unnecessarily undermine the confidence that voters have in election officials and the results of the election," Kennedy said in a letter addressed to Speaker of the Assembly Jeff Fitzgerald (R-Horicon).”

Kennedy asserted that there wasn't evidence to back allegations of "tampering" with ballot bags. He reassured WE THE PEOPLE of WI promising that the accountability board would work with clerks to reinforce training regarding poll book signing, voter registration and timely processing of voter verification postcards.

His statement reported that the accountability board's new Fall Election Cycle Strategic Planning Team is identifying statewide and specific training needs, including a "Back to Basics" campaign to "shore up fundamentals that may have been neglected in the push to training the new legislative requirements" enacted in last year's voter ID law.

I myself am GRATEFUL that our COURTS blocked the immediate implementation of the voter ID law in WI! I agree with those who assert that the voter ID law in WI is part of a GOP campaign to reduce access to voting by WE THE PEOPLE of WI! There is just plain NO EVIDENCE that there is significant voter fraud in WI! Check the records. IF you find evidence of significant voter fraud in WI, please add a comment with a link to a credible source so I myself and others can read the information.

The best outcome of the Wisconsin Citizens for Election Protection project will be to DEMONSTRATE the VDERY HIGH CREDIBILOITY of our WI elections county-by-county and thereby provide HARD-CORE EVIDENCE that vote fraud is NOT a significant factor in WI elections. I NOT think we need a voter ID law in WI! What do YOU think?

NOW the whole election administration process is working hard to BE PREPARED for the upcoming PRIMARY ELCTION on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Will WE THE PEOPLE of WI who vote be INFORMED voters? Will WE be prepared? Will YOU be prepared?

Here we go…

Mr. E.
