BE PREPARED! End of the world on Friday, Oct. 21?!

Alert: Harold Camping has asserted that the world will “PROBABLY” end on Friday, Oct. 21. NOTE that he is LESS ABSOLUTE this time after the previous dates he identified and did NOT happen. He had announced that Saturday, May 21. Now he is identifying this Friday, October 21 – just 5 months later… I do NOT think it is going to happen. What do YOU think?

WHY do I not think Friday is the date?

The truth is that IF God has set a date, I believe the Bible tells us that God is NOT going to tell anyone!

Jesus of Nazareth, whom some believe to be God’s own son, just plain said, ”No one knows the day or hour. The angels in heaven don't know, and the Son himself doesn't know. Only the Father knows.” (Read Matthew 24:36 CEV)

And then consider Jesus’ strong admonishment to the disciples/Apostles reported in the Acts of the Apostles 1:6-7 (CEV), “While the apostles were still with Jesus, they asked him, "Lord, are you now going to give Israel its own king again?" Jesus said to them, "You don't need to know the time of those events that only the Father controls.” Why not take JESUS seriously?! Doesn’t Harold Camping really believe JESUS’ statements? I do! Do YOU?

Yes, I believe in JESUS’ advice to BE PREPARED! ”Jesus said to his disciples: The time will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not. When people say to you, ‘Look there,’ or ‘Look here,’ don't go looking for him. The day of the Son of Man will be like lightning flashing across the sky.” (Read Matthew 24:22-24 CEV) Hello, Harold Camping – do YOU need read and believe JESUS’ words?! I do! Do YOU?

Consider Matthew 24:33-26 too - ”People who try to save their lives will lose them, and those who lose their lives will save them. On that night two people will be sleeping in the same bed, but only one will be taken. The other will be left. Two women will be together grinding wheat, but only one will be taken. The other will be left.” What does this mean to YOU?

IF you want to read Joshua Little’s blog in the "On Faith - Under God" feature on the Washington Post website, use this link “Harold Camping: World ‘probably’ to end Oct 21, 2011.”

Little's blog shares Camping’s explanation of why May 21 was NOT the time… and suggests that this Friday, October 21, “may” be the day… GLAD to see some humility, but NOT enough for me!

Harold Camping ought to be saying, “I do NOT know! GOD ONLY KNOWS!” What do YOU think?

I am looking forward to Friday, the 21st of October 2011 with anticipation and expectation. I will be at work at UW-Waukesha helping plan the future of our campus. I will be prepared IF God acts! Yes, I am ready! Are YOU?

Here we go…

DISCLOSURE: I am an ordained clergyperson of the United Church of Christ. I do openly choose the identity, "Christian." I am totally embarrassed and want to distance myself from persons who claim the identity, "Christian" and do NOT follow the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth whom Christians identify as the Messiah/Christ - God's anointed person. I evaluate the ID, "Christian" using the most well known New Testament scripture which is frequently identified as the GIST of Jesus' message. JWEyster
