WONDER DOG! Dog’s are truly humankind’s BEST friend!!

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on February 5, 2012 - 9:30 a.m.

WONDER DOG! Dog’s are truly humankind’s BEST friend!! I started preparing a post dealing with the discussion as to whether or not WI really has a “balanced budget” for 2011-13. And then I read the inspiring and very meaningful feature article by Melissa Fay Greene in the New York Times Magazine, “Wonder Dog.” I have already re-read the article. I encourage YOU to take time to read it – all of it and comment if you wish.

Jobs! Jobs? Jobs?! Campaigning to be elected WI Governor in 2010, the candidates competed with one another to assert the HIGHEST NUMBER of new jobs in WI! Scott Walker won with his PROMISE to create 250,000 new jobs in the PRIVATE SECTOR. So, where are we on JOBS?!

“Imagine a world without free knowledge” – NO THANKS!

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on January 18, 2012 - 5:50 a.m.

“Imagine a world without free knowledge” – NO THANKS! Time to realistically manage our 21st century in which, as Thomas L. Friedman helpfully discusses in his long-time BEST SELLER, “The World Is Flat 3.0: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century” describing and analyzing the DIGITAL age! I believe the legal frameworks of previous centuries are OUTdated for the DIGITAL AGE and MUST be changed! What do YOU think?

MLK DAY = Day of Dreams? (Updated)

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on January 16, 2012 - 7:28 a.m.

MLK DAY = Day of Dreams? (Updated) Our attention today is on MLK's "I have a dream" speech. The Gazette's front page feature article headline, "DREAM ON," attuned me to the idea that WE are DREAMING ON. Then I read about the new MISS AMERICA' (Kenosha, WI native) DREAM. What is YOUR dream on this MLK DAY?

TODAY is Martin Luther King, Jr.’s REAL Birthday!

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on January 15, 2012 - 3:14 a.m.

TODAY is Martin Luther King, Jr.’s REAL Birthday! GRATEFUL to Eugene Robinson, OpEd columnist, Washington Post, for his reminder that Martin Luther King, Jr. would be ONLY 83 today IF he had lived! I appreciated his assertion that IF he were still living, “He would be an elder statesman now, a lion in winter, an American hero perhaps impatient with the fuss being made over his birthday. At 83, he’d likely still have his wits and his voice. Surely, if he were able, he would continue to preach, to pray — and to dream.” I wish he were still alive with his wits and his voice continuing to preach, to pray and to dream. Do YOU?

Remove Gableman? Not so fast! I have been cheering for Rep. Kelda Helen Roys’ - D-Madison resolution calling on our WI State Assembly to remove Michael Gableman from our WI State Supreme Court. Having read the Wisconsin State Journal's Editorial, "Don't like Gableman? Try Gundrum." YIKES! Forewarned is forearmed! What do YOU think?

"I can name that scandal in one word" - Can YOU?

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on January 11, 2012 - 4:28 a.m.

“I can name that scandal in one word" - Can YOU? "I can name that scandal in one word," is the title of the Wisconsin State Journal’s metro columnist, Chris Rickert, this morning. I hope you are as curious as I was when I saw the title on Chris’ OpEd column today, “I can name that scandal in one word.” What is the ONE WORD? YOUR guess? NOW – before you read the column – what is YOUR guess?

No to Jesus Candidate. What do YOU think?

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on January 9, 2012 - 6:16 a.m.

No to Jesus Candidate. What do YOU think? I was shocked by Rick Santorum’s assertion about a “Jesus candidate." What about US citizens of various world religions? What about US citizens, like me, who claim the identity “Christian,” but do NOT agree with the imposition of religion as the key identity for a US Presidential candidate? What do YOU think?

"American Dream – is it dead or has it just changed?"

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on January 7, 2012 - 6:19 a.m.

"American Dream – is it dead or has it just changed?" One of the key discussions in this US Presidential Election year 2012 is about the so-called, “American Dream.” There are VERY different spins on what the “American Dream” REALLY is! The “Five Myths” feature deals with this issue. The Washington Post promoted the column with the question, “American Dream – is it dead or has it just changed?” What do YOU think?

TOOOO much data? How much do YOU want to KNOW? TELLING that most readers who commented are ready for the long US Presidential campaign to be over… I AGREE! I discovered a new online resource yesterday while studying the reports from the IA caucuses: The Washington Post launched a new feature on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 – the day of the IA caucuses, "@MentionMachine." MORE data about the US Presidential campaigns following the candidates! Do YOU want MORE data?! Before YOU react and respond to my questions, “TOOOO much data? HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 – Here we go…

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on January 1, 2012 - 7:15 a.m.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 – Here we go… I awoke this morning after going to bed at my regular & usual time – I chose NOT to stay up extra late because the adjustment afterwards is just plain too uncomfortable/dysfunctional. Also, I had the AUDACITY of HOPE that New Year 2012 would arrive regardless. So, this morning it has been enjoyable to read, see and listen to reports of the arrival of 2012 during the night. I was MOST SURPRISED to see the headline on an OpEd column on the WASHINGTON POST's website, "The last New Year’s Day in human history is here.” Is it?!

Continuing to Review 2011 and Countdown to Iowa Caucuses. VERY interesting and relevant review of 2011 LOCALLY in today’s Janesville Gazette, “Budget bill, healthy system expansions, killing, cows voted onto Gazette staffers’ top stories list." Very significant new "Five Myths" column in today's Washington Post, “Five Myths about the Iowa caucuses” because of the attention being given to next Tuesday’s caucuses in IOWA. Watching for YOUR comments.

"The Donald" says "millions of people" are waiting for his endorsement for US President! Who cares? Do YOU?

Posted by JOHN EYSTER on December 28, 2011 - 4:37 a.m.

"The Donald" says "millions of people" are waiting for his endorsement for US President! Who cares? Do YOU? Talk about EGO! I was stunned to read the Washington Post’s article with the lead, “To hear Donald Trump tell it, ‘millions of people’ are waiting for him to make an endorsement in the Republican presidential primary." I am NOT one of those “millions”! Are YOU?
