Vegetables outnumber protesters in Capitol Square

By ANN MARIE AMES ( Contact )   Wednesday, June 15, 2011 - 12:41 p.m.

I'm in Madison today to talk with protesters about what's next after yesterday's Supreme Court vote.

I found few protesters. I did find this little vegetable garden in one of the planters that usually holds flowers outside the Capitol.

I like it when vegetables are planted in random places.

The project is sponsored by Madison Community GroundWorks, and is intended to introduce people to home vegetable gardens as well as bring locally grown produce to communities.

Are there spaces in Janesville that would make good community gardens, other than the ones already in place?

garyprimer...love it! And, clearly, there will be a great harvest to celebrate when those vegetables are picked in August ;-)

There was no "thuggery", unless by "thuggery" you mean singing.

So if you found a few protesters, what did they say? Oh I see, it's easier to compare them to vegetables and get a laugh while feeding to comment trolls.

Well done! You've managed six sentences and a photo. And for that, I'll be the sixth comment. And my comment is longer than your blog post... so there!

Rights... LOL, union thuggery protecting rights? Those weren't rights that were taken away, My rights were preserved so I DONT HAVE TO PAY for the state workers excessive benefits to work ratio! Jansvillian, my rights were given back to me, those "union rights" that were taken away. Love how people from Nevada think they know stuff... Go gamble or something.

The real vegetable is aka Governor. After all, his grandfather invented the vegetable juicer.

Yeah, those uppity people, protesting the taking away of their rights! Don't they know their place? This isn't a democracy, you know.

What is even more impressive is that even yesterday, the vegetables showed more common sense and intelligence than all the protesters combined...
