Wiped out
I was so tired I could barely walk into the house tonight. All I could think was, "What if I had to feed tired-out kids and get them cleaned up for bed? What if I had to do four loads of kids laundry?? What if I had to be back at 5 a.m. to milk???"
I worked a fairly short shift today at the Rock County 4-H Fair, and I was beat. I don't know how you fair parents do it. (Or any of you other kinds of parents, for that matter.)
Hats off to you, folks.
Despite being ready for bed about four hours before I got there, it was a nice day at the fairgrounds. (I was gone before the storm. It might not have been so nice for some.)
If you haven't seen them in the paper, we've been running head shots and little bios of kids I run into at the fair. I've tried to be as random as possible and just grab kids as they run by.
Maybe that's the reason I've had a lot of kids wave "hello" all day. I'm not sure. But it's quite nice. I appreciate the friendliness.
Tomorrow I'll cover the results of the steer and goat shows. I'm also covering tomorrow night's beef and swine carcass contests.
I'll also try to bring you some snapshots from around the fairgrounds, in case you can't make the trip.
Here's one. I've seen some pretty nice barn decorations. But the La Prairie 4-H goat barn display has got to be one of the best.
It's got blinking lights. This photo doesn't do it justice. Poke your head in the goat barn and have a look if you get the chance.
