The tidiest basement ever
The Rock County 4-H Fair office staff has kindly given me a little work space in the basement of the fair office.
Yeah, I didn't know there was a basement either.
It's nice down here. I can eat apples in peace and flail away at the keyboard, as reporter Cathy Idzerda always says.
I'm pretty sure this basement is where plastic storage bins were invented. Imagine your mom's basement (if you have a crafty and really, really organized mom) times 1,000.
Long folding tables hold box upon box of trophies in perfect, shining rows. This year's ribbons are organized by the day of the show. Shelves hold cleaning supplies, staples, label makers, potting soil, plastic Hawaiian leis, masking tape and two gallons of udder wash.
Amazing.
If I could, I would give this basement a blue ribbon in both variety and organization.

I don't trust anything that looks out the sides of its face.

What about them beaks and talons? And the way they look?

Unless you are poultry feed gazettefan, there is nothing to worry about with the birds in the poultry barn. You're bigger than those birds, scare them back.

No, I tend to avoid farm animals. I worry about what the cows are thinking and the birds in the poultry barn are frightening.

Now if they could do something about the above ground. Ever been to the Jefferson fair? NICE!

I always find things below ground to be interesting.
But maybe some photos would have helped.

I understand this is a blog, but the effort is weak at best. Knowing the basement at the fair office is tidy wont help me to want to attend the fair nor will it make me sleep any better. Nice try though.

Just a time out to tip the hat to Our Fair Lady, Ann Marie Ames. Back in the Gazette newsroom, we're appreciating your efforts this week.

Two gallons of udder wash...Is that gonna be enough?
