Department of Ag has new web site

By ANN MARIE AMES ( Contact )   Monday, December 27, 2010 - 3:50 p.m.

I discovered this afternoon that the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has a new design for its website.

I'm not sure how long it's been up. If I had to guess, I'd say less than a month. I use it pretty regularly at work.

At the moment, I'm doing some background reading for a story on Wisconsin's Livestock Siting Law. It'll be for a follow up on the Rock Prairie Dairy series.

Speaking of, thank you to everyone who commented, called or e-mailed about the series the Gazette published about the proposed 5,200-cow farm. I got a lot of feedback - good and bad.

When you send me a note about a story, it sometimes turns in to another story. So, keep 'em coming.

NOTE: The DATCP website has lots of holes yet. Not all the links are populated. For example, you can learn about dating center licenses, but not dairy licenses.

I assume this will be fixed soon.
