In search of news and cheese curds

By ANN MARIE AMES ( Contact )   Wednesday, September 30, 2009 - 9:05 a.m.

I did some sweet talking yesterday afternoon and convinced my editors to let me write a story about the World Dairy Expo.

I'm heading to Madison this afternoon. Among other things, I plan to talk to the staff at the Janesville based Waikato Milking Systems USA. I also will be looking for other local faces, businesses and cattle.

When I went to sleep last night, I must have been very excited about the pending trip. I had a dream last night that cops and courts reporter Ted Sullivan was judging the Expo. He was asking for my help placing a class of heifers.

While that would be fun, I think I'll stick to writing a story and dragging the intern through the barns. I'm a lot better at those things than at judging.

Ann Marie, Dont forget to support the UW-M Badger Dairy Club by buying some grilled cheese sandwiches. They ARE the best!!! And while you're at it, don't forget the Ice Cream cones!!!!!!

I'll second that one on Decatur Dairy! They have the best cheese around. My grandaughter loves the string cheese-she always checks right away when she comes to see if its in the fridge!!
