Breaching First Amendment rights
Last week The Associated Press said the government gathered details from at least 20 of its phone lines, including personal cellphones of some journalists, as well as AP bureaus and switchboards.
The records apparently were seized as part of an investigation into who leaked details to the AP in 2012 about a foiled terrorist plot in Yemen.
Readers might think: “So what? Journalists shouldn’t compromise national security.”
