Can you give someone a hand up?
We see many people moving on with life after the recession. We see companies moving in and expanding and new stores under construction, businesses that promise jobs. We see an improving housing market and school enrollment stabilizing. Then we read a story like Friday’s about the monthly clothing giveaway at Orchard View Alliance Church, and it makes us realize that life remains a constant struggle for those on the fringes, those who don’t enjoy economic prosperity. While donations are down, volunteer Pat Schwab-Markley says the need is up. This is the clothing giveaway that for years was at Rock Assembly of God.
This dedicated leader of this long-running clothing ministry, a program of the nonprofit Love INC, has heard many stories of heartache. What do you do to help the needy among us? Could you donate to this clothing giveaway?
We’ll share our perspectives in our editorial Tuesday.
