Who might state Dems turn to in 2014?
Janice Smith posted this message on the Democratic Party of Rock County’s Facebook page: “When are we going to pick a candidate to run against Scott Walker?”
She suggested that Democrats can’t wait until the last minute, like they did in the recall.
Top choices in the fall 2014 race might be Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold. Barrett lost in the recall, however, marking the third time he has failed in bids for the Governor’s Mansion. His time might have passed. Feingold, it can be argued, has shown no inclination to run against Walker and might be saving up to make another run for U.S. Senate.
What about state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout of Alma? Her primary bid in the gubernatorial recall failed to gain traction. She’s a dairy farmer and considered a scholar. Some might find it appealing that she’s from neither Madison nor Milwaukee.
Republicans likely would argue that no Democrat is worthy of unseating Walker.
If you're open minded or lean Democratic, however, which Democrat do you think might make a good candidate for governor in 2014?

Perhaps Walker can be beaten by a totally unknown quantity like when Lee Sherman Dreyfus ran for governor. It is almost a certainty that a Madison or Milwaukee insider cannot win because one of them is already sitting on the governor's throne. An outsider from Janesville is also an unlikely choice. Vinehout is a good candidate but can't run on her name recognition. Are there any strong independent candidates out there that could run as Democrats?

Someone should check the list of former Illinois Governors. One of them must be up for parole soon...

David Clarke. Why do you think this nonsense is going on in Milwaukee? He is a dem with widespread republican support. Political leaders feel threatened by him so they like to jack him around.

While for the mostpart I think Walker has doen a fine job, no politician will ever get a 100% from me, I would be very interested to see Sen. Kathleen Vinehout run, she seems genuine and not a big partisan hack. I doubt I will be voting for any candidate either party offers, I will be looking 3rd party again, unless Walker is able to vastly cut government and lower taxes, I will not hold my breath.
