How far can the Pack go?

By GREG PECK ( Contact )   Thursday, January 3, 2013 - 11:57 a.m.

Last Sunday, the prolific Adrian Peterson again ran roughshod over the Green Bay Packer defense. The 37-34 loss to the Minnesota Vikings left many Packer fans discouraged. We entered this season with great hopes. After all, our team won the Super Bowl two years ago, then compiled a team record 15-1 regular season record a year ago, only to stumble in its first playoff game at Lambeau Field last December. The New York Giants emerged victorious and went on to win Super Bowl XLVI.

Defense was our team’s weakness last year, so the Packer brass spent its first six draft picks on defenders last summer. That has upgraded the defense, but it sure wasn’t enough to slow down Peterson last weekend.

Will playing at Lambeau make a difference Saturday night when the Packers and Vikings play a rematch in a first-round playoff contest? Will the outdoor turf and hostile crowd help rein in the elusive Peterson?

And if the Packers win Saturday night, what do you think the odds are of this team reaching, and winning, Super Bowl XLVII?

.
Most Vegas-off shore odds have them about 5/1 to win the Super Bowl. Denver is currently the favorite at almost every book.

Packers are a solid bet, IMO. It's the 1st time that all the key players are healthy, and playing together. I like their chances against the Vikes, at Lambeau. Home field has always been big in that series. Vikes are red hot, but I think the Packers have a better-deeper over all team, that will prevail. At San Fran would be their toughest test, IMO. I'm not to worried about Atlanta (who has done nothing everytime they are a #1 seed) or anyone else. If they faced Denver or New England in the Super bowl, it would be a game that would likely be a betting "pick em", and one could easily make a case for either side.

All the way baby!! Going up on Saturday. Went last year to the Giants game. If they lose again I am officially taking blame and never allowed to attend another playoff game.
