Making Milton a key link to our economic future
Blackhawk Technical College President Tom Eckert will ask the college’s board of directors on Thursday to approve leasing a vacant Milton building to house an Advanced Manufacturing Training Center.
For months Eckert tried to forge public-private partnerships to renovate the Beloit Iron Works complex. When the struggling economy left him unable to raise much private funding, Eckert turned to a less costly option—the Milton building that once housed ANGI Energy Systems.
Is this a viable alternative? How would the college find the capital needed to renovate the building? What could it mean not only to the college, Milton and local students but also manufacturing companies of today and tomorrow?
We’ll share our perspectives in our editorial Tuesday.

Move to downtown Janesville , Mercy might have some available space at the old Mercy Options building or the site where Hendricks was going to put the mall by five points. Or the old walgreens and I'm sure State Electric would do a buyout.

It's about time that Blackhawk opens a facility in Milton! Let's hope it takes hold.

If the old Angi building is the old Burdick building, then absolutely not. Add on to the existing campus. I'll sign a referendum for that.
