Was council wise to reject referendums?

City of Janesville residents going to the polls April 2 will find no referendums on the ballot seeking additional spending for repairing streets or public safety. The city council rejected the ideas Monday on a 4-3 vote. This will be the subject of The Gazette’s editorial Wednesday.

Do legislative gallery rules make sense?

Last week the state Assembly passed new limits on visitors sitting in the gallery at the state Capitol. Today the Senate might follow suit. Are these restrictions fair?
