Whom do you like: Ringhand or Schmidt?
The 45th Assembly District has undergone an extreme makeover, and Tuesday’s election pits Democrat Janis Ringhand of Evansville against Republican Beth Schmidt of Orfordville.
Both earned technical college degrees—Ringhand in finance and Schmidt in accounting. Both have served local government and volunteered in their communities.
Ringhand already has two years of experience in the Legislature, having been elected to the old 80th District in 2010. Redistricting, however, moved Evansville into the 45th District.
The 45th encompasses many rural areas and also Brodhead, much of Beloit and the villages of Orfordville and Albany.
Which candidate do you think is best equipped to serve this mix of residents? We’ll share our views in our endorsement editorial Tuesday.

On November 20th of 2008, Governor Doyle told the press, Wisconsin faced a $5.4 billion shortfall over the next two fiscal years. On April 26, 2011 Rep Ringhand, at a "listening session" in Brodhead announced there is actually no deficit.
Yes, Beth Schmidt is new to politics she also is a hard working straight talker, no double speak. Wouldn't that be refreshing?

I used to believe the adage...doesn't matter who you vote for, just vote.
bbballchick is a classic example of why that line of thinking is ridiculous.
Some people should just stay home on election day.

Schmidt – I voted for Ringhand last time but she ran to IL rather than stay here to do her job and that I will not forget. It doesn’t matter if she agreed with the bill before her as she still had a responsibility to vote and instead she ran and hid.
